Tanner, Irene Eleanor

Mrs. Irene Eleanor Tanner, age 105, of Waupaca, formerly of Ogdensburg, died Wednesday, March 20th, 2013 at Whistling Pines where she had been a resident for 12 years.

Irene was born in Town of St. Lawrence, Wisconsin on March 22, 1907, the daughter of the late William and Ella (Lenz) Suhs. Irene married Clyde Steinke on Sept 30, 1930 in Manawa. He preceded her in death on May 8, 1965. She later married William H. Tanner on Jan 1, 1969 in Manawa. He preceded her in death on Sept 29, 1978. Irene worked as the Postal Clerk in Ogdensburg for over 30 years retiring in 1972. She enjoyed cats, quilting, crocheting, doing crossword puzzles and spending time with her family.

She is survived by step-daughter, Lucille (Harold) Berndt of Rhinelander; niece, Isabella Bonikowske of Ogdensburg. Irene is also survived by four step grandchildren, great nieces and great nephews other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a sister, Lillie (Fred) Bonikowske; nephew, Kenneth Bonikowske and niece, Joyce (William Jr) Pluger.

Funeral Service will be held at Voie Funeral Home in Iola at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 26th, with Reverend Dennis Olson officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday 1-hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will be in the Park Cemetery Town of St. Lawrence, Wisconsin.
