Keep setback

Would you want an industrial sand mine 200 feet from your house?

The town of Union is considering changing the setback for a non-metallic mine from a residence from 2,000 feet down to 200 feet.

At a public hearing held on March 18, almost 70 people attended to voice their concerns.

Not one person spoke in favor of the aforementioned change.

In fact, many that spoke wished the setback to be even farther away than 2,000 feet.

A.F. Gelhar Co. applied for their conditional use permit knowing the rules of our township.

To change our setback now would be a blatant disregard for the health, safety and welfare of our citizens.
