Seven returning starters in Clintonville

The Eastern Valley Conference boys baseball outlook features several strong teams, with Clintonville near the top.

First year coach Dean Muthig has seven returning starters on his team this year. Together, they will work to improve on last year’s 10-5 conference record and 16-9 overall record.

The team features several seniors, including Kolin Kubitz, who batted .386 with two home runs and 10 doubles last season. He was named 2nd Team All-Conference as a catcher.

Senior Jake Van Allen also earned 2nd Team All-Conference honors as an outfielder while batting .353. Jansen Van Daalwyk earned Honorable Mention as an infielder. Last year, he pitched his way to a 2-3 record with a 4.89 ERA and 3 saves.

Senior Austin Paisar was a 1st Team All-Conference pitcher last year, and posted an 8-2 record with a 2.70 ERA.

Junior Turner Doornink was a unanimous 1st Team All-Conference selection last year as an infielder. He hit .325 with 7 home runs, and also pitched his way to a 5-1 record with a 3.5 ERA.

This strong Trucker team is ready to take W.A. Olen Field at Don Jirschele Stadium as soon as weather permits.

“Our team goal is to compete for a conference championship in a very tough conference,” commented Muthig. “Team strength is experience. We have seven returning starters from a sectional qualifying team, and all of our pitchers from last year return this year.”
