Wolves baseball team hungry for wins

The Wolves varsity boys baseball team only won one game last year, but this year’s team is stronger and more experienced.

Jeremy Gast is in his first year coaching the team. Last year’s team was 1-12 in the conference and 1-15 overall.

Returning letter winners include senior third baseman Brandon Bartel, junior pitcher Casey Johnson, junior short stop Josh Mauritz, junior catcher Sam Koehn, junior first baseman Brady Clary, junior left fielder Brandon Lindsay, sophomore right fielder Jake Kaczorowski, and sophomore left fielder Adam Langman.

Other varsity candidates include sophomore short stop Andrew Mauritz, freshman short stop Luke Wilz, freshman center fielder John Holtz, freshman second baseman Camden Moser, and freshman second baseman Neil Buschke.

“We are a young team with very few and inexperienced arms, but our upperclassmen are great leaders, and this group of kids really mesh well together,” said Gast. “We are looking to build on the rebuilding process we started last season. We hope to re-establish ourselves in our conference. Our goal is to win five conference games. With the quality of depth throughout our conference, this would be a worthy feat.”
