Letter carriers to help ‘stamp out’ hunger

On Saturday, May 11, letter carriers servicing the Waupaca area will be collecting food donations for the Waupaca Food Pantry.

Donations will support children, seniors and other individuals in need of food assistance.

Children who qualify for free or subsidized meals at school will be on summer break soon. And the food donations made around the holidays are getting used up by this time of year.

So it is important that we replenish the shelves at the pantry so that those with the greatest need for food find nourishment over the next several months.

In nine days, letter carriers will cover every last mile to deliver your mail and to collect your food donations. Volunteers with the food drive will also be assisting with the collection of donations.

Please have your donations ready for pick-up prior to 9 a.m., and place them either in or around your mailbox.

Please avoid setting out items that come in glass containers. If you leave items outside your mailbox, please protect them from rain and dew.

You may also drop off your donations in the lobby of the post office during normal lobby hours.

Any size of donation will benefit the Waupaca Area Food Pantry and those who utilize it. Your donation will go a long way.

With your help, we can “stamp out” hunger on Saturday, May 11.
