A four-run fifth inning helped Wittenberg-Birnamwood pick up a 7-4 win over Iola-Scandinavia April 26 in a Central Wisconsin 8 Conference baseball contest at Iola’s Taylor Field.
The Thunderbirds also picked up a pair of recent wins over Manawa April 23 and April 25.

IOLA – The T-Birds took an early lead with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning, but the Chargers took the lead for good with three runs in the second and added four more in the fifth.
I-S came back with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth to cut the lead to three, but couldn’t get any closer.
Tanner Korb took the loss for the T-Birds.

MANAWA – I-S scored twice in the third and fourth innings and tacked on four more runs in the fifth. Manawa came up with its three runs in the sixth.
Hunter Gruenwald got the win on the mound.

IOLA – The T-Birds opened the season April 23 with a CWC-8 win over the Wolves.
I-S hosted Stevens Point Pacelli April 30 and will host Shiocton at 4:30 p.m. today (Thursday, May 2).
