Fire department plans fundraisers

The Weyauwega Fire Department will hold two fundraisers during the next several months.

Its annual chicken barbecue will be held on Sunday, June 2, while its second annual dance will be held on Saturday, Aug. 10.

Both events will be held at the fire station.

Serving for the June 2 chicken barbecue will begin at 11 a.m.

The department will also hold a raffle that day.

A total of 1,000 raffle tickets will be sold at $10 per ticket, with a total of $4,500 awarded in prize money.

Like last year, the dance will feature the Spicey Tie Band.

It will be held from 8 p.m. to midnight on Aug. 10 and will include an open house so those in attendance may tour the station and see the department’s appartus.

Paul Buchholz is a member of the volunteer fire department and is also part of the committee which is planning the August event.

The firefighters are seeking sponsorships for the dance and fundraiser.

Their goal is to raise $10,000 to go toward the purchase of stabilization and lifting devices for auto, farm and industrial incidents, Buchholz said.

Last year’s support of sponsors resulted in the department meeting its fundraising goal of $7,500.

An 18-foot rescue boat and related water rescue equipment was purchased.

Those interested in being a sponsor may contact the fire department at 920-867-2119.

Pledges may be made at any time.

Sponsors who make payments by June 1 will be listed on event posters.
