All Class Reunion planned in Fremont

The Weyauwega-Fremont High School 32nd All Class Reunion will be held Thursday, July 18, at the Hahn-A-Lula Resort & Ballroom in Fremont.

This year’s theme is music of the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s.

Registration will begin at 4:30 p.m., with music by “Joe & Janice,” followed by dinner at 6 p.m.

The dinner will be chicken and beef tips. Those who need a special menu may call 920-407-1191 or email [email protected].

The cost of the dinner is $15.50 (tax and tip included).

Invitations for the reunion will also be available at the Weyauwega Public Library and at the Neuschafer Community Library in Fremont.

The idea to have an All Class Reunion began in 1980 when Dale Wahlers, of the Class of 1934, walked into Bud Redemann’s office to talk about a class reunion.

After several discussions, the decision was made to include the classes of 1931, 1932, 1933, 1934 and 1935 in a reunion.

That one was held in 1981.

Later, more classes were included in the reunion until 1992, when it became the All Class Reunion.

In 1993, WF Alumni & Friends was organized.

Its mission is to remember the past and invest in the future.

Each year, before the W-F High School graduation ceremony, the group sponsors a reception in honor of the class which graduated 50 years ago.

The senior class recognizes the alumni at the graduation ceremony.

WF Alumni & Friends also presents scholarships and student activity grants to students in the W-F School District.

This year, Kelsey Akey received the WF Alumni & Friends Scholarship, and Danielle Austreng received the Robert H. Reimann Scholarship.

Receiving the Abe Cohen Scholarship were Mark Buchholz, Maggie Knecht, Teal Tomaszewski and Jane Beyer.
