Dorothy H. (Vogt) O’Keefe, age 84, of Almond, WI, passed away Tuesday, July 9th, 2013 at Saint Michael’s Hospital in Stevens Point.
She was born in the Town of Amherst, Portage Co., WI, on April 12, 1929, a daughter of the late William and Dora (Rosin) Vogt. She attended Amherst Schools and graduated in 1947 from Amherst High School. Dorothy married Dale E. O’Keefe on December 6, 1947 in Amherst. He preceded her in death on June 27, 1999. Dorothy was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Almond. She had worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Wisconsin Veterans Home in King for 23 years until her retirement in 1991. Dorothy loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed gardening, music, playing her accordion and singing.
She is the proud mother of: Judy (James) Lamb, Custer, WI; Kathy (Wayne) Schulist, Plainfield, WI; Lisa O’Keefe, Wisconsin Rapids, WI; Patrick (Tina) O’Keefe, Almond, WI; and Kelly (John) Taber, Howards Grove, WI. She is also the proud grandmother of: Jerry Lamb, Jolynn (Matt) Zierden, Cole and Aaron Schulist, Tara O’Keefe, Sean (Amy) O’Keefe, Cory O’Keefe, Lauren and Kyle Taber; and proud great grandmother of: Kadence O’Keefe, Alex and Caleb Zierden. Also surviving is a brother, William (Virginia) Vogt, Plover, WI. Besides her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by two sons, Daniel and Raymond; three grandchildren, DoraLynn, Danny Jr. and Dawn, and two sisters, Lillian Dusel and Eleanor Galien. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Almond at 11 AM on Saturday, July 13th, 2013, with Reverend Brian Roehrborn, officiating. Interment will be in the Almond Village Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday, from 9:30 AM until the time of the service at the church. The Hardell-Holly Funeral Home of Almond is assisting the family with arrangements.
