Vanderveer, Jeane E.

After a long and full life, Jeane E. Vanderveer, age 88, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2013.

Jeane was born on June 6, 1925, in Weyauwega, WI to the late Edward and Elsie (Warnke) Kramer. On March 27, 1950, she was united in marriage to David “Bob” Vanderveer who preceded her in death in 1998. She attended Oshkosh State Teachers College where she received her Bachelor of Science and Teachers Certificate in 1949. Jeane was an elementary school teacher prior to her marriage and continued her career as a substitute teacher in New London and the surrounding communities for many years. Jeane and Bob were lifelong small business owners and operated Dave’s Oil Company and the Bottle Shop Inc. in New London, WI. Jeane was a fan of all types of literature, an avid bridge player, determined golfer and loved to travel. Boating on the Wolf River to Oshkosh and along the Door County Peninsula were favorites. Jeane had a broad and open mind. She was dedicated to her family and friends, a great listener who was never judgmental or critical and always a ready smile and words of encouragement.

She is survived by her sons, David Vanderveer, New London, WI; Peter Vanderveer and his wife Joanne Weber, Brooklyn, WI; two special nieces, Candace Bauer and Christine Schmies; numerous other relatives and many friends. Her parents, husband and three sisters: Neva, Mavis, and Audrey preceded her in death.

A memorial service for Jeane will be held on Monday, July 22, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at First Congregational United Church of Christ, New London, WI with Rev. Greg Watling officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in the Floral Hill Cemetery, New London.
