Davids, Sr., Glenn L.

Glenn Lee “Chief” Davids, Sr., age 84 of Bowler, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at the Ella Besaw Center, Bowler.

Born on April 9, 1929 in Gresham, he was the son of the late Elmer and Eureka (Jourdan) Davids. On November 13, 1946 Glenn enlisted with the United States Navy and served his country for 4 years. On Christmas Eve 1949 he was united in marriage to Marcella “Marky” Clifton in Baltimore, MD. Marcella preceded him in death on March 19, 2011. Glenn worked as a welder for FWD/Seagrave in Clintonville. When not at work he enjoyed fishing, reading, playing cribbage, photography, drawing and playing Tiger Woods Golf. He also enjoyed tending to his flower and vegetable gardens and was an avid Bingo player. Glenn was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Wilderness. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend with a wonderful sense of humor and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Glenn is survived by: 8 children, Glenn, Jr. (Kathy) of Caroline, Tony of Bowler, William (Sharon) of Bowler, Michael (Connie) of Appleton, Evelyn (Gary) Decker of Appleton, Mark of New London, Rick (special friend, Lori) of Neenah, Bruce of Bowler; 15 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Dorothy Davids of Bowler, Corrine Kroening of Marion, Dee-Dee Schubinski of IL; 2 brothers, Elmer (Donna) of Greenfield, Bruce (JoAnne) of Bowler; and 2 sisters-in-law, Skip Richardson of MD and Joan Miller of VA. Glenn was preceded in death by: his wife, Marcella; a grandchild; a great-grandchild; his parents; and 3 sisters, Bernice Miller-Pigeon, Margaret Raasch and Lois Cornelius.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, July 19, 2013 at the Lutheran Church of The Wilderness, Bowler with the Rev. Melinda Shriner officiating. Burial will be in the Stockbridge Indian Burial Grounds with Military Rites conducted by the Mohican Veterans. Visitation will be held at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Gresham on Thursday from 4:00-8:00pm and at the church on Friday from 10:00am until the time of the service.
