Zimmerman, Carol M.

Carol M. Zimmerman, age 83, of Big Falls, passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2013 at Waupaca Elder Care, Waupaca.

Carol was born on July 14, 1930 in the Township of Wyoming, Waupaca County, the daughter of the late Gustav and Anna (Barkholtz) Kitzman. She was also raised on the Kitzman family farm in the Township of Wyoming. On April 4, 1948, Carol was united in marriage to Fred Zimmerman, Sr. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Township of Dupont, Waupaca County. The couple lived and farmed in the Township of Wyoming for 18 years. Carol also had worked at the Marion Box Factory and the Marion Plywood Corporation. In 1974, the couple moved to Big Falls where they owned and operated Zimm’s Grocery Store for many years. Carol enjoyed fishing, traveling, taking pictures and in earlier years, coaching baseball. She was awesome with a fillet knife and was a crack shot with a 22 rifle. She was a member of the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Big Falls and a member of the Big Falls V.F.W. Auxiliary.

Survivors include: her husband Fred, Sr. of 65 years; her daughters, Darla Waite and Rolshell (Rick) Pynenberg, Manawa; her sons: Fred (Susan) Zimmerman, Jr., and Jerry (Karla) Zimmerman, Brookfield; Kirk (Patty) Zimmerman, New London; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters, Evelyn Chiles and Laura VanNuland; and 7 brothers: Arnold, Alfred, Gehart, Wilbert “Butch”, Edwin, Milton and Victor.

Funeral services will be held 11 A. M., Saturday, August 10, 2013 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Big Falls with the Rev. Janice Kuder officiating. Interment will be in the Big Falls Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:30 until 8 P.M., Friday at the Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home & Crematory, Marion and after 10 A.M. Saturday at the church until the time of the service.
