Blood drive planned in New London

A Community Blood Drive will be held from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, at Emanuel Lutheran Church.

The bloodmobile will park outside the church at 200 East Quincy Street in New London.

“When you give blood, you give life,” said Jill Kohl of the Community Blood Center. “If you haven’t donated in the past eight weeks, we hope you’ll come to the blood drive on Tuesday. Giving blood is a great way to make a positive impact and help others.”

Advance donation appointments are highly recommended, and may be made by calling Beth at 920-982-7544, or using sponsor code OU11 to login to www.save3lives.org.

Walk-in donors are welcome, but scheduling an appointment helps ensure a fast and convenient process.

Blood donors must be at least 17 years old (16 with parental permission), weigh at least 110 pounds, be in general good health, and bring a photo ID. Donors are encouraged to eat a regular meal and drink plenty of fluids prior to donating.

The Community Blood Center is also a donor center with the National Marrow Donor Program, facilitating transplants for patients with life-threatening diseases.
