The Clintonville boys’ soccer team will open state tournament play with a long road trip.
The Truckers are seeded eighth in their Division 3 regional and will travel to Ashland to take on the top-seeded Oredockers at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, in a regional semifinal.
If the Truckers are able to upset Ashland, they would play for a regional championship Thursday, Oct 17, at No. 4 Lakeland in Minocqua or at No. 5 Waupaca. Those two teams will play Oct. 15.
Clintonville wrapped up Eastern Valley Conference play Oct. 7 by falling to Waupaca 3-0. The game, originally scheduled for Sept. 19, was suspended midway through the first half that day because of a thunderstorm with the Comets holding a 2-0 lead.
The Truckers held the Comets to only one goal from David Rasmussen Oct. 7, but were unable to find the net themselves.
