Phantoms top Bulldogs

The West De Pere Phantoms handed the New London Bulldogs a 3-1 defeat in their Bay Conference volleyball matchup on Thursday, Oct. 10.

New London stayed close in the first game, but came undone at the end and lost by a score of 20-25.

The Phantoms kept the momentum and won the second game, 25-16.

Desperately needing a win, the Bulldogs buckled down and won a 25-18 decision in game three to extend the match.

Despite a good effort, New London fell short in game four, losing 19-25 to end the match.

Caleigh Shaw had four aces, 10 attack kills and six block kills to go with one dig. Payton Mix added seven attack kills and one block kill.

Jenna Mytton tallied three aces, one block kill, 15 assists and two digs. Alanna Beyer added one assist and 16 digs.

Bay Port Invite

New London competed at the Bay Port Invite on Saturday, Oct. 12, finishing with a 2-3 match record and 4-7 game record.

New London lost to Bay Port, 22-25 and 23-25, in game one. They bounced back with a 25-14, 25-21 win over Roncalli.

The Bulldogs fell to Hortonville by scores of 11-25 and 23-25 in match three, and then beat Menasha in match four by scores of 23-25, 25-12, and 15-9.

In their final match, the Bulldogs lost to Appleton West by scores of 22-25 and 22-25.

Caleigh Shaw had five aces, 21 attack kills and six block kills. Payton Mix added four aces, 11 attack kills, four block kills and three digs.

Mytton notched six aces, 33 assists and one dig. Beyer added 33 digs.
