Abhold, Kenneth John

Kenneth John Abhold, age 67, of Fremont died on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at his home.

He was born on November 10, 1946, in Oshkosh, the son of Howard H. and Vera M. (Hinz) Abhold. Ken was a 1964 graduate of the Weyauwega High School and served his country in the United States Army at Fort Riley Kansas. He worked locally in construction and manufacturing and later as a painting contractor in the Fox Valley area. In 1995, Ken became a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fremont, where he faithfully served as the custodian until illness forced his retirement. Ken’s avid interest in painting, gardening, reading, landscaping and architecture left him with a full schedule, but he always found time for his birds.

Ken is survived by his mother, Vera; his five brothers: Larry and Louise, Danny, Keith and Taly, Kelly and Pam, and Tom; five sisters: Pat (and friend Lisa) Spaulding, Sharon Hamm, Laura (fiancé, Tony) Conlon, Sandy and Mark Elias, and Angel and Victor Estrada. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Ken was preceded in death by his father Howard, a sister, Beth; and three brothers, Chuck, Howie and Mike.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 18, 2013 at 1:00 PM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 107 Tustin Rd., Fremont. Pastor Stephen Pope will officiate. Burial with military rites will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Weyauwega. Visitation will be held on Monday, at the church, from 11:00 AM until the time of service.
