Goerlinger notches two top 10 finishes

Clintonville’s Gabby Goerlinger recently completed her junior season with two top 10 finishes at the WIAA State Swimming & Diving Championships at the Natatorium in Madison.

Seeded thirteenth in the 200 free, Gabby took first in her heat which moved her into eighth overall, breaking the team record with a 1.59.85.

Goerlinger was seeded 10th in the 100 back finished with a 1:01.28 placing 10th overall.

Goerlinger had knee surgery to repair a torn meniscus on June 4. She worked hard with rehab and started the high school swim season on Aug. 13. In the beginning, her knee was very swollen which hindered her kick but her stroke was still very good.

With afternoon practices five days a week that included 1/2 hour of dry land training as well as occasional am practices. Goerlinger and the entire Lady Trucker High School Swim Team continued to improve.

Goerlinger was undefeated in conference meets, as well as being a two-time sectional champion. With hard work and dedication, Gabby had a very productive and successful season.

The Lady Trucker’s Swim Team awards banquet will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 19.
