Contest offers cash prizes for business plans

Business plans are a critical tool in the planning and launch of new ventures. They allow entrepreneurs, innovators and potential investors to communicate with each other.

The Northeast Wisconsin Business Plan Contest offers cash prizes to help participants prepare business plans for start-ups, significant changes to existing businesses, or the launch of new products in northeast Wisconsin.

Participants in the contest have until Jan. 5, 2014, to submit a 250-word business concept statement online.

The Small Business Development Centers of Northeast Wisconsin will screen the business concept statement, then invite qualified participants to answer 10 questions by Jan. 15, 2014.

One of those questions asks the name of the Northeast Wisconsin Regional Economic Partnership (NEWREP) representative with whom the participant discussed their business plan.

The Waupaca County Economic Development Corporation is the authorized NEWREP representative for any business plan entries from Waupaca County. For more information, contact Dave Thiel at 920-982-1582 or at [email protected].

Information for the 2013 Northeast Wisconsin Business Plan Contest is located at http://newrep2013.istart.org.

Participants must open a simple iStart account to enter the contest. They can log in and out of the iStart website as often as they need to add and edit until the full business plan portion of the contest ends at midnight on Jan. 16.

Judging of the full business plans will take place through Jan. 26.

The top four finalists will pitch to a panel of judges beginning at 9 a.m. Friday, Jan. 31 at the Advance Business and Manufacturing Center in Green Bay, Room BA101.
