Two face felony drug charges

Felony drug charges have been filed against Victoria L. Dankert, 28, and Daniel R. Wetzel Jr., 28, both of Waupaca.

Wetzel was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and theft.

Dankert was charged with possession of narcotics, possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance and theft.

At 12:25 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, Waupaca County Sheriff’s Deputy Bryan Strobusch was leaving the Kwik Trip on County Road QQ in Waupaca when he saw a vehicle pulling into the parking lot with license plates that were listed as stolen. He subsequently made a U-turn and returned to the Kwik Trip.

When he arrived, Strobusch saw Wetzel pumping gas. He asked Wetzel about the plates.

Wetzel told Strobusch he had permission to use the plates until he had enough money to register his vehicle.

Strobusch also detected the aroma of marijuana. He then searched the car and found one Adderall, one Vicodin and two Percocets in the ashtray.

Dankert, who had been in the passenger’s seat, was searched at the jail. Corrections officers found a bag of marijuana, 22 hydrocodone and four oxycodone pills.

Both Wetzel and Dankert have prior drug-related convictions.
