Wolves drop two games

The Manawa Wolves boys’ basketball team traveled to Wittenberg-Birnamwood Tuesday, Dec. 17, and fell to the Chargers 48-37.

The Wolves then hosted Bonduel, Friday, Dec. 20 and bowed out by a final score of 69-39.

MANAWA – The Wolves battled the Bears close in the first quarter, being outscored 18-12. A tough second quarter doomed the Wolves, as they mustered only five points in the quarter compared to Bonduel’s 19 points.

Manawa had its best scoring output in the third quarter, scoring 13 points. They still gave up 18 points in the quarter. Manawa was once again outscored in the final quarter, and fell in the game 69-39.

Matt Radloff led the Wolves with 12 points, while Luke Wilz added eight points.

WITTENBERG – Manawa got off to a somewhat slow start against Wittenberg-Birnamwood, and trailed 11-6 at the end of the first quarter. The two teams were almost even in the second quarter, with W-B having a 10-9 edge in the quarter.

Manawa again scored nine points in the third quarter, but gave up 16. Manawa saved its best for the last quarter, outscoring the Chargers 13-11 in the fourth quarter. It wasn’t enough, though, as the Chargers took the game 48-37.

David Blum led Manawa with 12 points.
