Truckers net first victory of the year

The Truckers traveled to Seymour, Friday and Saturday, Dec. 27-28 to participate in the Seymour Holiday Tournament. It was a successful trip as they netted their first victory of the season the first game of the tournament.

Clintonville 45, Chilton 39

The Truckers came out strong in the first quarter against Chilton, pulling out to a 9-6 lead. They kept their foot on the gas in the second quarter, outscoring Chilton 12-6. Clintonville held a 21-12 lead at halftime.

The offense for both teams picked up in the second half, as both teams scored in double digits in each of the quarters in the second half. Chilton did score more points in those quarters than Clintonville, but it wasn’t enough as Clintonville held on for a 45-39 win.

Ali Johnson led the Truckers with 13 points. Carpenter and Voight chipped in with eight points apiece, while Olivia Wagenson had six points.

The win matched Clintonville against Denmark in the next game.

Denmark 38, Clintonville 20

Coming off their first win of the season, the Truckers struggled offensively the entire game against Denmark. Clintonville failed to score in double digits in any of the four quarters.

Clintonville trailed 19-10 at halftime and scored only two points in the third quarter compared to Denmark’s 12 points. Clintonville did manage eight points in the fourth quarter, but dropped the game, 38-20.

Autumn Voight led the Truckers with 11 points. Jade Stilen scored three, while Etta Sorenson, Johnson and Wagenson each scored two points.

Freedom 48, Clintonville 31

FREEDOM – The Truckers got off to a slow start against Freedom, Friday, Dec. 20, falling behind 17-9 in the first quarter.

They didn’t lower their heads in the second quarter, outscoring Freedom 12-5, to trail by only one point at halftime.

A third quarter, in which the Lady Truckers were shut out, and gave up 10 points, doomed them. They eventually fell, 48-31.

Johnson and Sorenson led the Truckers with eight points apiece. Carpenter and Voight chipped in with six and five points, respectively.

The Truckers host Fox Valley Lutheran, Friday, Jan. 3.
