Peterson, Roger W.

Roger W. Peterson, 83, of Iola, died Wednesday, January 1st, 2014 at Appleton Medical Center.

He was born in Iola, Wisconsin on July 29, 1930, the son of the late Anton and Margaret (Wrolstad) Peterson. Roger married Sharon L. Schmidt on Oct. 25, 1958 at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Big Falls. Roger graduated from Rosholt High School in 1948. He served in the United States Army as a corporal during the Korean War. Roger was involved in the trucking business all his life. He operated Wright Trucking in Iola with his brother-in-law, Roger Wright for 5 years. He worked for Dushek Trucking for over 25 years, Ort Trucking, Anthony Farms and Trzebiatowski Pickle Farm. Roger always enjoyed and looked forward to playing cards and talking with his friends each day. He was a life long member of the Iola American Legion Post 14. Roger will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Peterson of Iola; daughters: Trudy (Wayne) Riley of South Carolina, Mary (Chuck) Gipp of Iowa; son, Eric (Patty De Voss) Peterson of Iola; granddaughter, Kayla (Tom) Polak; great granddaughter, Kayden Polak; brother, Ralph “Mike” (Arlette) Peterson; sister, Grace Jueds of Marion; and sister-in-law, Marjorie Wright of Janesville. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Roger was preceded in death by two brothers, Neal and Harold Peterson; an infant brother and one sister, Harriett Ehlieter.

Funeral Service will be held at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Iola at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 6th, with Reverend Dennis Olson officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 9-11 AM. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Iola American Legion Post #14 in Iola.
