?Holy Moly? of a chili contest

The staff at Weyauwega Health Care Center found a way to warm up this winter

On Wednesday, Jan. 22, the center’s first ever chili contest was held.

Managers participated, including Judi Olson, Bonnie Wegner, Susie Borchardt, Miriah Westberg, Greta Nelson, Andrea Wanty, Angie Morgan and the dietary staff.

In all, eight different chili recipes were made.

Three judges tasted each of the recipes before conferring and naming a winner.

The winning recipe was made by Wanty, who after winning, said, “This is the first time I made chili ever in my life.”

She received a framed certificate for her chili, which the judges called “Holy Moly.”

The judges were Don Morgan, who is a member of the center’s board; Marilyn Rima, a nurse practitioner from Optum Care; and Stacy Adams, who is the director of nursing at WHCC.

Community members, family of residents and representatives from ThedaCare Hospice also attended the chili lunch.
