Teens charged with burglary

Additional charges have been filed against two teens accused of a rash of break-ins in Marion on July 15, 2013.

De’Sean A. Mahkimetas, 18, and Taylor P. Pingel, 19, were both charged last week with burglary and theft.

They allegedly broke into a garage on the E6200 block County Road S in the town of Dupont, rifled through a vehicle and refrigerator and stole a shotgun, a range finder and two walkie talkies.

According to the criminal complaint, Pingel told police that Mahkimetas had acted alone. Mahkimetas reportedly said they both went to the residence, but only Pingel entered the garage.

High school students subsequently found the shotgun in the river near Mahkimetas’ apartment in Marion.

Mahkimetas and Pingel were each charged with four counts of burglary, two counts of criminal damage to property and one count of bail jumping on July 16, 2013.

Mahkimetas was in court on March 12, 2013, when he was charged with felony counts of burglary, theft of a firearm and operating a vehicle without the owner’s consent. He was released on a $2,000 signature bond on the condition he not commit any crimes.

Pingel was in court on July 8, 2013, to face misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and criminal damage to property. He was released on a $1,000 signature bond.
