The Iola-Scandinavia girls’ basketball team is on a late-season roll.
The Thunderbirds won their third game in a row, a 57-43 Central Wisconsin 8 Conference victory over Shiocton, Feb. 7 and handed Rosholt a 52-22 defeat Feb. 4.

IOLA – I-S led 17-5 after one quarter, 28-15 at halftime and 36-29 after three quarters before outscoring the Chiefs 21-14 over the final eight minutes.
Jane Oligney and Brooke Phillips led the T-Birds with 14 and 11 points, respectively, while Kylie Johnson and Emily Sether added eight each. Leighten Fischer and Johnson had four rebounds each; Johnson led the team in assists with four and Fischer and Phillips added three each; and Fischer, Sether and Tyisha Weed had a team-high three steals.
Madi Morack led Shiocton with nine points.
I-S improved to 4-5 in conference play and 7-8 overall with the win, while Shiocton fell to 6-3 in CWC-8 play and 10-4 overall.
I-S 52, Rosholt 22
ROSHOLT – The T-Birds held the Hornets to six points in the second half, including only two in the fourth quarter.
I-S led 15-9 after one quarter, 31-16 at halftime and 44-20 after three quarters.
The T-Birds hit seven of 22 three-point attempts and took advantage of 31 Rosholt turnovers.
Natalie Gauerke led the T-Birds with 12 points. Johnson added eight points and five assists; Fischer had eight points and five rebounds; Phillips had four steals; and Sether and Karina Welch pulled down seven and five rebounds, respectively.
The T-Birds played at Amherst Feb. 11 and will host Manawa at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14. The team will also head to Manawa Monday, Feb. 17, for a rescheduled rematch with the Wolves.
