W-F schools hold spelling bee

The 2014 Scripps Spelling Bee winners were Jaden Rice at Weyauwega Elementary School, Frances Walsh at Fremont Elementary School and Hunter Tangwall at W-F Middle School.

Walsh, a fifth grader, and Rice, a third grader, competed at the Feb. 11 regional spelling bee at Lawrence University, in Appleton, along with Tangwall, who is in eighth grade.

The other winners at Weyauwega Elementary School were fourth grader Brayden Grimm, second place, and fifth grader Paige Culbertson, third place.

At Fremont Elementary School, the other winners were third grader Reilly Claassen, second place, and fourth grader Beatrice Walsh, third place.

At the middle school, the other winners were seventh grader Austin Krause, second place; and sixth grader Twyla Alix and eighth grader Kaitlin Kettleson, tied for third place.

Also competing at Weyauwega Elementary were Colton Connor, Luz Gomez-Chavez, Gracie Hansen, Nicholas Huebner, Lillianna Liegl, Nicholas Loehrke and Matthew Zeichert.

At Fremont Elementary, Riley Delwiche, Keira DeWilde, Luke Ehrenberg, Ryleigh Farkas, Sydney Folk, Jack Siebert and Alexia Toney also competed.

Also competing at the middle school were Cadyn Ehrenberg, Halla Jourdan, Alex Lederer, Jacob Norby and Julie Rice.
