Quade, Hubert “Hub” F.

Hubert “Hub” F. Quade, age 88, of Weyauwega, died on Tuesday, February 18, 2014, at the Weyauwega Health Care Center in Weyauwega.

He was born on March 2, 1925, in the Town of Weyauwega, the son of the late Ewald and Nellie (Lankford) Quade. Hubert was a proud Marine who was stationed at CINCPAC, (Commander in Chief Pacific Command) (Admiral Chester William Nimitz Headquarters), in Hawaii during WWII, serving as a guard for Admiral Nimitz and Admiral William “Bull” Halsey. Hubert was a retired accordion player and instructor who gave lessons to many local people in the area. He played for many wedding, birthdays, anniversaries, bars, and nursing homes towards the end of his accordion playing years. For many years he raised and sold Christmas trees and ran the Colonial Hotel in Waupaca; along with many other rental properties around the Waupaca area. Hubert enjoyed putting a smile on peoples’ faces with his great sense of humor and jokes every day. Hubert enjoyed looking for Indian artifacts (and showing off his very large collection that he had found throughout his years), the Green Bay Packers, riding his Harley, fishing, hunting, spear fishing, smoking fish, gardening, swimming, weight lifting, and working on his Christmas tree farms. He will be sadly missed by his special friend, who was a great blessing for him for many years, Elsie Anderson.

He is survived by his children: Jane (Jon) Orne, Milwaukee; Hubert (Margaret) Quade, Lewisville, ID; Lana (Chad) Hudson, Waupaca; Todd (Sharalee) Quade, Appleton and grandchildren: Sherie Kozlosky, Michael Keller, Sarah Quade-Hulse, Cameron Quade, Nia Graham, Vanessa Graham, Brynn Kicherer, Patience Quade, Faith Quade; foster granddaughter and special friend Marina Goza (Clint Breitzman) and many great and great-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John Ewald Quade and step-grandson, Reuben J. Hales.

A funeral service for Hub will be held at the Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Funeral Home, Weyauwega, on Friday, February 21, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. with Alfred Ellison officiating. A visitation for Hub will be held directly at the funeral home on Friday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Spring at Oakwood Cemetery in Weyauwega. The family would like to thank the staff at Weyauwega Health Care Center for their care and concern of Hub.
