Borlen, Jannette R.

Jannette R. Borlen, age 91 years, of Clintonville passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at St. Joseph Residence, New London.

The former Jannette Ruth Schafer was born on August 15, 1922 in the Town of Pewaukee to Charles and Clara (Dopke) Schafer. She was united in marriage on December 27, 1941 to Anthony J. Borlen at St. Columba Catholic Church, Lake Five, WI. In 1959 the couple moved from Hubertus to Clintonville, where she farmed alongside her husband. Jannette was preceded in death by her husband on July 4, 1964. She continued farming with her son until he bought the farm in the early 1970’s. In her younger years, Jannette was a 4-H Leader and served with the Christian Mothers Altar Society. She was a longtime member of St. Rose Catholic Church. Jannette liked to bake, garden, and tell stories from her childhood. She loved her years on the farm, working hand in hand with her son James and his wife Veronica cultivating corn at 5:00 a.m. with the John Deer B Tractor was so peaceful to her. Jannette was very active with her grandchildren and great grandchildren by attending their band concerts, basketball games, watching them water ski, and so much more.

Survivors include three children: James (Veronica) Borlen of Clintonville, Jerome Borlen of Oshkosh, and Justine Roe of Clintonville. There are 6 grandchildren: Mary (Tom) Ziarnik of Verona, Mark (Michelle) Borlen of Clintonville, Melissa (Hans) Kreklow of Manawa, Marie (Tom) Gorman of Manawa, Laura (Adam) Wolfgram of New London, and Dennis (Sarah) Roe of Marion. There are 11 great grandchildren: Jesse and Stepanie Borlen, Mercede and Meckenzi Wolfgram, Claire and Lane Kreklow, Peter, Emma and Hanna Gorman, and Alexis and Sydney Roe. She is further survived by a sister, Grace Hansen of Hubertus, three nephews, and many other relatives and friends. Jannette is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Anthony, and a brother-in-law, Jerome Hansen.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, February 26th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Rose Catholic Church, Clintonville. Fr. John “Jack” Mullarkey will officiate and burial will be in the parish cemetery in the spring. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Clintonville, and on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of mass at the church.
