Anthony Luviano, 30, Marion, is charged with felony theft and felon in possession of a firearm.
On Feb. 9, Luviano agreed to take care of his neighbor’s dog while he was in a Milwaukee hospital.
On Feb. 11, when the neighbor returned, he discovered that his .308-caliber hunting rifle was missing.
According to the criminal complaint, when police questioned Luviano about the stolen gun, he said he needed money to stay on his drug treatment program.
Police reported finding a heroin cooking kit and a needle in his pockets when they arrested Luviano.
Luviano was convicted of felony possession of marijuana with intent to deliver in January 2009.
