Charges reinstated against Diedrich

The Waupaca County district attorney’s office has reinstated felony charges against Daniel R. Diedrich, 17, Waupaca.

In November 2013, Diedrich was charged with burglary, criminal damage to property and two counts of misdemeanor theft.

He was accused of causing more than $10,000 in damages to a vacant house owned by Paul Mayou, a Waupaca city alderman and business owner.

Judge Harold Froelich dismissed the charges without prejudice on Jan. 7. Assistant District Attorney James Fassbender had requested the charges be dismissed in order for Diedrich to attend Challenge Academy, according to court records.

A case that has been dismissed without prejudice can be refiled.
