Schlicht, Rev. Ryan R.

Rev. Ryan Robert Schlicht was called home to heaven on March 23, 2014, after a brief illness.

He was born on November 27, 1985, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Ryan was the youngest of five children born to Robert and Johnny Schlicht. He was baptized by Pastor Herbert Prahl at St. Mark Ev. Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. Ryan and his family moved to Sturgeon Bay in 1987, where he attended St. Peters Ev. Lutheran School and graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School in 2004. Ryan earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at Martin Luther College in 2008, and went on to complete his pastoral training at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in 2012. He served his vicar year in Denver, Colorado at Zion Lutheran Church under District President Earle Treptow. Ryan’s first divine call to the ministry was to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Clintonville, WI. He served in Clintonville until his death on March 23. On June 12, 2010, he married Stacey Jayne Kreckow in West Allis at Good Shepherd’s Lutheran Church. Ryan enjoyed baseball, snowboarding, exotic cars, movies, and always admired the U.S. Air force.

Survivors include his wife, Stacey; daughter, Adeline; his parents, Robert and Johnny Schlicht, Sturgeon Bay; three sisters, Stephanie Schlicht and her husband, Tim LaVine, Forestville; Amanda Schlicht, Rochester, MN; Danielle Stahl, Algoma; brother, Rob Schlicht, Chicago; maternal grandparents, Clive and Burness McBain, West Salem; parents-in-law, Julie and DaWayne Kreckow, West Allis; one brother-in-law, Daryl (Elizabeth) Kreckow, Milwaukee; two nephews, Elijah LaVine and Ethan Stahl; and his black Labrador, Dakota. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Robert and Viola Schlicht.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at the Forbes Funeral Home (www.forbesfuneralhome.com) in Sturgeon Bay. A devotion will be held on Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 27, 2014, at St. Peters Lutheran Church with Rev. Darrick Kolterjahn officiating. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Funeral services will also be conducted in Clintonville at St. Paul Lutheran Church at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 28. Friends may call in Clintonville at the church on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
