Sexual assault charge filed

Devan J. Harriman, 22, Waupaca, is charged with fourth-degree sexual assault and felony bail jumping.

On March 18, Harriman appeared in Waupaca County Circuit Court, where he was charged with second-degree reckless endangerment, battery and disorderly conduct. He was released on a $5,000 signature bond with the condition that he not commit any crimes.

On the morning of Wednesday, April 2, Waupaca Police Officer Diana Flatoff went to the Kmart store, where she interviewed a cashier who said Harriman had come behind her work station and grabbed her buttocks.

Harriman allegedly left the store, then returned a few minutes later and groped another woman.

According to the criminal complaint, when Flatoff interviewed Harriman, he said he thought he knew the cashier, although he could not remember the name of the woman he thought she was. He also reportedly said he grabbed the cashier as a joke.

The cashier told Flatoff she felt humiliated and violated by the incident.
