One bad inning costs Truckers

Clintonville gave up seven runs in the fourth inning May 6 and came out on the short end of an 8-1 score to Freedom in an Eastern Valley Conference baseball contest.

Freedom used two Clintonville errors, three walks and five hits to break the game open in the fourth inning.

Clintonville scored one run in the bottom of the fourth and Freedom added one in the top of the sixth to round out the scoring.

Jaden Doornink took the loss for Clintonville, while Turner Doornink led the Trucker offense with two hits.
Jacob Gonnering threw a complete game for the Irish, allowing four hits while striking out six batters.

FREEDOM – The Truckers avenged their loss to Freedom by topping the Irish 3-2 May 8.

Freedom jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but Clintonville scored on in the fourth inning and two in the fifth to take the lead. Turner Doornink’s sacrifice fly tied the game, while Parker Mindel’s RBI single gave the Truckers the lead.

Mindel led the offense with three hits, while Nick Hogen added two. The team tallied seven hits in the game and benefitted from one Freedom error.

Turner Doornink tossed a complete game while notching 13 strikeouts.
