Track regional meets slated for May 27

New London will host a WIAA regional track meet Tuesday, May 27, while the area’s nine other teams will hit the road.

Appleton East, Appleton North, Appleton West, De Pere, Hortonville, Kaukauna, Kimberly and West De Pere will head to New London for a Division 1 regional that gets under way at 3:30 p.m. at Bulldog Stadium.

Athletes that qualify for sectionals will then head to the Ashwaubenon Sectional, scheduled for 4 p.m. Friday, May 30, at St. Norbert College in De Pere.

Here’s a rundown of where other teams will compete:

Division 2
• Waupaca, Weyauwega-Fremont and Amherst will join Appleton Xavier, Berlin, Fox Valley Lutheran, Nekoosa, Omro, Waupaca/Faith Christian Academy and Winneconne at the Fox Valley Lutheran Regional in Appleton, which gets under way at 3:30 p.m.

• Clintonville will join Bonduel, Freedom, Little Chute, Marinette, Oconto, Oconto Falls Peshtigo and Seymour at the Seymour Regional, which starts at 3:45 p.m.

Sectional qualifiers from both regionals advance to the Freedom Sectional, set for 3 p.m. Friday, May 30.

Division 3
• Iola-Scandinavia, Manawa and Marion will join Gresham/Bowler, Oneida Nation, Rosholt, Shiocton and Tigerton at the Rosholt Regional, set for 3:30 p.m.

• Almond-Bancroft and Wild Rose will join Menasha St. Mary Central, Pittsville, Plainfield Tri-County, Port Edwards, Stevens Point Pacelli and Wisconsin Rapids Assumption at the Tri-County Regional at Plainfield, which gets under way at 4 p.m.

Sectional qualifiers from both regionals will then head to the Marathon Sectional, scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday, May 30.

State qualifiers that advance out of the various sectionals will then compete in the State Track and Field Meet Friday and Saturday, June 6-7, at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
