Bulldogs top Panthers in 13 innings

The Bulldog baseball team outlasted the Oconto Falls Panthers in a 13-inning Bay Conference game May 22.

New London earned a 6-5 walk-off victory.

The Bulldogs trailed 3-1 after three innings, but jumped back into the lead by scoring four runs in the bottom of the fourth. Oconto Falls scored two runs in the top of the fifth to tie the game at 5-5. Neither team scored again until New London won it in the bottom of the 13th.

Lane Hanadel, Aaron Yorkson and Hunter Fermanich each had two of New London’s 10 hits, while Ryan Wolf, Jake Pinch, Michael Kerscher and Tyler Jagiello added hits.

Oconto Falls stranded 17 baserunners in the game, while New London stranded 16.

Hanadel pitched the first four innings for New London, allowing five runs on eight hits with two walks and one strikeout. Pinch came in to pitch seven innings, allowing six hits and six walks with no runs and seven strikeouts. Yorkson pitched two innings and earned the win, allowing one hit and one walk with no runs.

The teams combined for 22 strikeouts and 20 walks.
