Radtke, Gordon E.

Gordon E. Radtke, age 93 of Embarrass, passed away on Friday, June 13, 2014 at Cherry Meadows Hospice, Appleton.

Gordon was born on July 3, 1920 in Zachow, WI, the son of the late Henry and Hattie (Schwahn) Radtke. On December 18, 1943, Gordon married Lucille Huebner in Shawano. The couple lived and farmed in the Township of Hartland, Shawano County until 1953 when they moved to Embarrass. In Embarrass they ran Radtke Foods until 1961 and then purchased and operated the Embarrass Carding Mill until retirement. Gordon served as an Embarrass Village Trustee and served on the Embarrass Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Embarrass where he has served on the church council for many years. His hobbies included spending time with his family, socializing and going out to eat.

Survivors include: his wife, Lucille of 70 years; his daughters: Sue (Don) Haws, Embarrass; Peggy (Wayne) Rindt, Clintonville; his grandchildren: Wendy (Lance) Haddock, Utah; Jodi (Jeff Sincoular) Haws, Shawano; Kelli (Jeff Asman) Rindt, Kimberly; his great-grandchildren: Rebekah (Seth) Minnis; Hatley, Alex and Kallie Laughridge; Danielle Haws; Amanda, Zachary and Rebecca Sincoular; his great-great-grandchildren: Tirzah, Jeremiah, Levi and Silas Minnis; Alliyah Haws; his sisters-in-law and brother-in-law: Sylvia Below and Judy (Don) Thaves, Shawano. Also, many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother and sister-in-law Myron (Lila) Radtke, his sister-in-law and brothers-in-law Bette (Jerry) Nachtwey, Orland “Pudge” Below and his nephew Richard Below.

Funeral services were held 3 p.m. Monday, June 16, 2014 at Zion Lutheran Church, Embarrass with the Rev. Todd Jerabek officiating. Interment is in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Embarrass. Friends called at the church on Monday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. The Radtke family would like to sincerely thank the Theda Care at Home Hospice staff, especially Betsy and Cherry Meadows Hospice staff for all of their compassionate care given to their dad during his short illness.
