Benefit held for New London teacher

A New London Middle School group held a benefit for sixth-grade teacher Jim Pompa, Tuesday, June 3.

Staff, students, family and friends gathered for the event to honor and support Pompa, who has been diagnosed with ALS, better known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.

In response to the event, Pompa stated, “’Thank you’ seems really inadequate – but to all who donated, volunteered, sent cards, bought t-shirts and supported the Team Pompa Benefit in any way – my thanks are endless.

“A special thank you goes out to all of the intermediate and middle School students, families and staff who not only took part in the benefit, but also contributed through a staff raffle and penny war. Your overwhelming support is appreciated more than you will ever know. If support brings strength, I’m the strongest man in the Universe.”
