Museum birds to be restored

The New London Public Museum announced a flock of Save the Birds sponsors.

Faye Wohlrabe and Dan Froding are sponsoring the Pileated Woodpecker, Brenda Hansen chose the female Blue Wing Teal Duck and the New London Women’s Club decided on the pair of Rose-Breasted Grosbeaks. With their donations, NLPM will be able to have these four birds cleaned and preserved. A total of nine birds have been sponsored in 2014.

The museum hopes to have 10 birds sponsored by the end of the summer, which would double its goal for the year.

Charles Carr, the founder of the museum, collected the Grosbeaks and the Teal in the late 1880s. The museum isn’t sure who collected the Pileated Woodpecker.

All of these birds have been at the museum for a long time and with these donations they will stay here for years to come.
