Why Congress continues doing nothing

In the fall of 2013, Rep. Reid Ribble and 79 other forward-leaning members of Congress petitioned Speaker of the House John Boehner to shut down the United States’ government.

Ribble represents the 8th Congressional District caucus of Wisconsin’s Republican party. This caucus brands itself Straightforward Wisconsin.

Straightforward Wisconsin convened this spring to hear Ribble and other noteworthy speakers. After having listened to the speakers and airing all the arguments for and against having a Constitutional Convention of States.

Straightforward Wisconsin passed with an overwhelming vote this ad hoc resolution: “We should just sit here and do nothing.”

During 2014, Ribble has continued his diligent service to Straightforward Wisconsin: like all other Congressional House Republicans he has sat there and done nothing. Last Friday the House members completed their work and adjourned for their five-week summer vacation.

Reid Ribble and the other Republican members of Congress are all “nice guys” who work hard at serving their constituencies. Their “doing nothing” is evidence of their service. Congress is not broken.
