Blue Jays soar to victory over Bulldogs

A huge second quarter helped propel the Menasha Blue Jays to a 41-7 win over the New London Bulldogs on Friday, Aug. 22.

Neither team scored in the first quarter, but Menasha piled up 28 points in the second frame to lead 28-0 at halftime.

Menasha added six points in the third quarter to stretch the lead to 34-0, and both teams scored a touchdown in the final quarter.

Menasha gained 16 first downs on the night, while New London earned just three. The Blue Jays ran for 302 yards, while the Bulldogs rushed for only nine yards. Menasha passed for 128 yards, and the Bulldogs earned 89 yards through the air.

Nick Thomas earned New London’s only touchdown on a pass from Dylan Keehn. Jack Noffke tacked on the extra point.

Keehn completed eight passes on the night. Five went to Thomas for 39 yards, while Carter Thomson caught two passes for 46 yards. Zach Duenas had one reception for four yards.

Andrew Clauss led the rushing attack with 16 yards on three carries. Connor Hoell added 13 yards on 11 carries, and Duenas earned six yards on four carries.

On defense, Thomas had one interception for the Bulldogs.
