Curtis K. Bernd, of Waupaca, age 77, passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2014 at Appleton Medical Center.
He was born in Gary, IN on September 29, 1936 to the late Kenneth and Velma (Bloede) Bernd. On February 11, 1961 he married Jo Ann Lowry. Curt enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, woodworking and taking care of people.
He will be sadly missed by: his wife, Jo Ann; daughters, Heidi Hanson of Amherst and Gretchen (Jim) Hayes of De Pere; grandchildren: Erin (Gunnar) Schutz, Mac and Jake Hayes; brother, Keith (Lois) Bernd of Grafton; special friends, Karlo (Carolyn) Swenson of Oshkosh; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Anderson of Shakopee, MN, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter, Angel Hayes.
The Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at 12:30 p.m. at the Maple Crest Funeral Home, with Father Amalraj Roche officiating. The visitation will be on Monday at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and again on Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. A memorial has been established
