Down two games to none, the Bulldog varsity volleyball team kept fighting to earn a 3-2 victory over the Shawano Hawks on Tuesday, Sept. 23.
Game one was close until the final five points, as Shawano pulled away for a 25-20 win. Game two was more of the same, as the Hawks won by a score of 25-20.
Facing a win-or-go-home third game, the Lady Bulldogs dug deep and came up with a 25-18 win.
Game four presented another must-win scenario, and the Lady Bulldogs kept things rolling to win the fourth game by a score of 25-20.
With the score knotted at 2-2, the teams entered the decisive fifth game.
A back-and-forth battle saw the Lady Bulldogs come out on top by a score of 18-16 to win the match, 3-2.
McCoy Mix led the team with 23 digs while also earning three aces and seven kills. Payton Mix added seven kills and 11 blocks for New London. Caleigh Shaw contributed six kills and 16 blocks, while Megan Kronser added 27 assists and Alanna Beyer notched 14 digs.
