Bulldogs top Irish

An intensely physical WIAA Division 3 soccer playoff game between the New London Bulldogs and Freedom Irish ended in a 4-1 victory for the hosting team on Tuesday, Oct. 14.

Both teams brought a very high level of energy into the game. Though the crowd was small, both sides were vocally represented by cheering fans.

Freedom pressured the Bulldog defense early in the first half but couldn’t get an early goal. New London had a few good opportunities early in the first half as well, but couldn’t find the back of the net.

Parker Sullivan and Joey Messina eventually helped the Bulldogs to a secure lead, as both scored two goals and each had one assist.

Colton Peeters scored one goal for Freedom, but the Bulldogs ran away with a 4-1 win.

Jason Waldvogel had 10 saves for New London, while Will Christensen had 10 saves for Freedom.

With the win, the seventh-seeded Bulldogs advance to face second-seeded Green Bay Notre Dame at 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16. That game will be hosted by Green Bay Notre Dame.
