Hoier, Maud E.

Maud Evangeline Brown Hoier, 95, passed from time to eternity on Sunday, November 2, 2014, in Houston, TX at the home of her daughter.

She was New London born, raised, educated and forever connected. Maud and husband Don will be remembered by long-time area residents as the creators, owners and operators of Don’s Supper Club, New London, WI and Northern Don’s, Pelican Lake, WI. While no longer in existence, Don’s was a popular business and second home to many New London High School students during the early 1960s. She fed and housed many children not named Hoier. Maud was head chef at Don’s for more than thirty years and put out the best food in town. She loved to play piano and organ, but her favorite pastime was dance. She gave dance lessons prior to marrying and when she retired from the supper club business, she devoted time choreographing dance for the New London High School music department. In 1991, she moved to Houston to live with her daughter. However, her heart was always in New London with friends, family and Don’s. She truly led a full and wonderful life. Thank you mother for a lifetime of love and support.

Maud is preceded in death by her parents, Nora and Claud Brown, New London; her beloved husband, Donald; brothers, Monroe “Minnow” and Herald “Stub” Brown, New London; grandson, Christopher Stephen Hoier; and daughter-in-law, Kay Catlin Hoier, Appleton. Surviving family members include: a daughter, Claudia Rae Hoier, Houston, TX; a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Jeanne Hoier, Rapid City, SD; grandchildren Donald Hoier, Las Vegas, NV; Trevor (wife Kim) Hoier, Blacksburg, VA; Traci (husband Craig) Andreas, Colorado Springs, CO; and Michele (husband Eric) Peel, Omaha, NE. Great grandchildren are Cullan and Brenna Andreas and Gavin and Ruby Hoier. A fifth great grandchild is on the way via Michele and Eric. Also surviving are many loved nieces and nephews.

Maud’s ashes will be returned home for burial in the spring. Date to-be-determined.
