The day before this year’s midterm election, Fremont Elementary’s faculty and students participated in their own election.
Kris Sroka’s fifth-grade class designed voting booths and set up the polls for the student body.
On Nov. 3, students registered, received a ballot and then proceeded into a voting booth to place their votes.
When they were finished, they placed their ballots in a box.
“Due to the fact this wasn’t a presidential election, we decided to vote on our yearbook cover. There were four different choices for students to decide,” Sroka said.
She said they also decided to add a second ballot.
It was to have the students vote on Principal Doug Nowak’s Principal Challenge.
The “Principal Challenge,” in conjunction with National Young Readers Week, is under way Nov. 10-14 through the Pizza Hut Book It program.
