New charges against sex offender

Joshua R. Pennington, 25, Waupaca, is charged with causing a child over age 13 to view sexual activity, two counts of sexual intercourse with a child under age 18, and two counts of child enticement.

On July 3, a 17-year-old girl told Waupaca Police Officer Wesley Zube that she and another 17-year-old girl had sex with Pennington in his apartment two weeks earlier. She said she and her friend faked being 18 years old in order to get into the apartment building, according to the criminal complaint.

The girl told Zube that Pennington called her multiple times and asked to visit him again, but she refused.

On June 22, the girl went to a hospital in New London and discovered she had a sexually transmitted disease.

When the girl called Pennington about the disease, he allegedly said he knew that he had it but did not tell the girls because he thought it would stop them from having sex with him, the complaint says.

A registered sex offender, Pennington was convicted of second-degree sexual assault of a child in Waupaca County and sentenced to four years in prison in January 2011 with 351 days credit for time served.
