The Iola-Scandinavia varsity girls basketball team hosted the Wittenberg-Birmawood Chargers on Friday, Dec. 12.
The Chargers outscored the T-Birds 16-8 in the first quarter of play, led by Erika Alwes 6 points.
The Chargers, held on to their lead in the game, ending the half 29-19.
Erica White Eagle scored 5 points for the Chargers and Leighten Fischer put 5 points on the board for the T-Birds as well.
The T-Birds had a balanced scoring effort in the 3rd quarter, with Fischer, Baleigh Fuhs, Kylie Johnson and Brooke Phillips each scored 2 points.
Siri Zeinert led the scoring for the Chargers with 5 points, ending the 3rd quarter of play with the Chargers up 40-27.
In the final quarter of play, the T-Birds out-scored the Chargers 13-15.
Phillips put up 8 points for the T-Birds while Zeinert added on 7 for the Chargers.
The Chargers came away with a 53-42 victory.
Leading the scoring for Iola-Scandinavia was Fischer with 17 points followed by Phillips with 14.
Alwes led the Chargers scoring with 13 and Zeinert added another 12.
