A big third quarter helped Weyauwega-Fremont stay unbeaten, as the Indians handed Manawa a 53-24 defeat Dec. 12 in a matchup of Central Wisconsin 8 Conference girls’ basketball teams.
Both teams struggled finding the basket in the first quarter, but W-F led 11-4 after the break. The Indians also outscored the Wolves 11-6 in the second quarter to take a 22-10 halftime lead.
W-F led by as many as 29 points in the third quarter, as the Indians used a 14-0 and outscored the visitors 23-8 to take a 45-18 lead into the final period.
The Indians closed the game by outscoring the Wolves 8-6 over the final eight minutes.
Alyssa Goode led W-F with 15 points, while Karissa Akey and Kiley Akey added 12 and nine points, respectively. Ashlee Strebe led Manawa with nine points.
