Bednaroski, Helen J. ?DeDe?

Helen J. “DeDe” Bednaroski – age 79 – of Waupaca, WI, (formerly of Menasha, WI) passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2014. 

She was born on February 20, 1935 in Neenah, WI, the daughter of Edward and Marie (Hogan) Kowalkowski. She married Robert Bednaroski on May 4, 1957 in Menasha, WI, and he preceded her in death on October 9, 2011. Helen was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Menasha. She had been a homemaker and a loving mother to her children. She had a strong faith in her Lord and as a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Waupaca had been active in the Resurrection Choir. She had a number of interests including sewing, craft activities, being active with the Waupaca Senior Center, and enjoying trips she took with her children and grandchildren. She also loved being around children. She had been a loving caregiver to her husband Robert during his illness. 

Helen is survived by her children: Mark Bednaroski of Watertown, Thomas Bednaroski of Amherst Jct., Jane Reed (special friend, Jay Gaffaney) of Krakow, Linda Callaway (fiancé, Dave Cartwright) of Greenville, and Anthony (Chris) Bednaroski of Crystal Lake, IL; grandchildren: Amanda Reed, Laura Reed, Christy Reed, Tammy (Joshua) Steinbrecher, Abby (Tony) Smolcich, Shannon Callaway, Matthew Bednaroski, Megan Bednaroski, Lauren Bednaroski, Wilbur Bednaroski, and Mary Bednaroski, and great-grandchildren: Braydon, Conner, Garrett, Leum, and Kamden. She is also survived by a brother, William (Marlene) Kowalkowski of Fremont; sisters, Jan (Wayne) O’Connell of Lakewood, and Lois (Art) Miliander of Menasha as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Helen was preceded in death by a son, William; a granddaughter, Ashley, and a sister, Geraldine Tesch. 

A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Waupaca, WI with Father Amalraj Roche, Celebrant. Interment will be in the St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Cemetery in Waupaca. A visitation will be held at the church on Thursday morning from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in memory of Helen J. Bednaroski. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca, WI is assisting the family with arrangements. The family wishes to extend a special Thank You to Heartland Hospice for their loving care, support, and guidance while taking care of Helen.
