Truckers finish fourth

Clintonville wrestlers took fourth place at the Viking Invitational tournament at Winnebago Lutheran Academy on Saturday, Dec. 13.

Individually, four wrestlers ascended the podium by day’s end.

At such a tournament, each weight class may have a varying number of competitors as not every team has a wrestler in every weight class, just like the Truckers.

At 106 pounds, Ben Cotherman took fifth place out of six wresters.

Cole Cotherman took the podium for third place (out of six) at 120 pounds.

Bridget Streicher competed at 126 pounds, taking fourth place (out of six).

Tim Jerabek went 3-2 on the day, garnering a fifth place finish (out of 10) in the 138 pound bracket.

Lacey Jung battled her way to a seventh place finish at the 145 class (out of 10).

Shayne Collar defeated every opponent he faced, dominating the 160 pound bracket. There were eight competitors in the bracket.

Jason Bilek competed at 170 pounds, gaining valuable experience at the varsity level.

At 195 pounds, Chase Poppe lost only one match, and earned a second place finish. There were six competitors in the bracket.

Chase Jung went 3-2, which was good enough for a third place finish out of eight competitors at 220 pounds.

Considering that there are fourteen weight classes and only nine were covered by Trucker wrestlers, it was indeed a good showing.

The team will wrestle next at the Holiday Classic Invitational Tournament at Shawano Community High School, Saturday, Dec. 20.
